Why do this?
Probably my need to fill in empty spaces
and having found no other sources that contain a written history for the
Pacific Shard. My first character was Engval, and to bring him alive
I needed a history for him. He needed to have that sense of history so
that he could react to the world according to what he knew and experienced.
The void prevented him from truly becoming integrated with the world he
exists in. As I played the game I came across bits and pieces that helped
flesh out the history, but not enough. I began reading whatever information
I could find on all the Ultima games. I saw a great void in the history
of Britannia between the time the Gem shattered and the shards were turned
on. So armed with information I decided to write a history for the world
that Engval and all my characters can relate to. Since starting this
I have become part of a project involving the seers and GMs that also hope
to create a singular history for Britannia.
What will this project encompass?
My goal is one of history and one of geography.
I want to create a vibrant history that I hope others will accept and eventually
work into their own characters. This is not a project I hope to do alone.
I will seek out those who have a story to tell or a theory they wish to
present. Together I hope to create a world that is touchable and in some
way a little more understandable.
Man has always had a need to name things.
Within the game there exists too many landmarks that remain unnamed. Acting
through Arlas Wickes I will attempt to place names to many of the landmarks
and features of the world. It is not my plan to do this alone. I will seek
out those who wish to help and take whatever suggestions may be passed
this way. I know I will have truly succeeded the day a stranger comes up
to one of my characters and says "Do you know if Dagger Pass through the
Serpent's Spine is safe enough to travel to Lost Hope Bay?"
