(January 21, 2002) The sad news was reported from Yew; the brutal deaths of two people who helped us in our quest on Saturday, Brother Maverly of the Order of the Chaste and Lady Tamatha Eyrele, the granddaughter of the Healer Aegis. In memory of those people, I would like to recount our quest last weekend. On Saturday evening, people gathered at the Historical Society by Lord Steward Engval's call. Chancellor Zed, ex-Chancellor Lady Chessentra Xeran, and I met at his tower. Engval told us that the "healer's bowl" in the riddle was probably what the Healer Aegis used when she came to save the people of Skara Brae from a plague a long time ago, for it was said that her bowl had great powers of purification. In his investigation, he also found that, when Aegis died in Skara Brae, her relatives from Yew came and retrieved all of her belongings. Our mission was to visit Yew to find out Aegis' family there and ask them to lend us the bowl. So, Zed, Chessentra,
and this reporter set off to Yew. We started from the town healer and
asked if they knew about the healer named Aegis but none of them could
answer. So we finally To our disappointment, Tamatha told us that the bowl we were looking for was lost a long time ago. According to her, her father took the bowl with him on an expedition into the Spider Mountains, but no one from the expedition had ever returned. After camping for the night, we decided to venture into Shame, as we speculated that the expedition had ventured into the dungeon and thus the bowl might be found there. And we were correct. Chessentra found a rune and a bowl among a pile of bones. Since we didn't want to lose this bowl, we immediately opened a potal to town and headed to the Shattered Skull tavern where Engval was waiting. He examined the bowl we handed him, and told us that it could purify any poison in it. Relieved that we had completed our mission successfully, everyone headed off to home. |
