Mysterious Deaths Rouse Concern in Yew

S.Y. 311.9 (January
20, 2002) Early this morning the body of Brother Maverly of the Order of the Chaste was found impaled upon the upper branches of a tree that grew next to the Abbey. All indications show that he was thrown from the roof of the Abbey sometime last night. The local guards wish to talk with anyone that might have seen something unusual on that night or that might have information as to why someone would so brutally murder Brother Maverly. In a possibly related story, the well-respected healer, Tamatha Eyrele was found severely beaten and dead in her home. The nearby farmers found her when they responded to the smell of smoke coming from her house. The farmers were able to quickly douse the fire but upon entering the smoke-choked home, they found the bloodied body of Tamatha Eyrele. The fact that two brutal murders in the same night has caused great concern and dread among the locals. Rumor has it that the orcs may have been responsible and many believe that more orc atrocities may signify a pending attack upon Yew itself. |
