A Missing Friend
By Zed
From Zed's Journal
Zed
walked through the Spiritwood wondering why he had not seen or heard
from Sardel since the Spring Tide Bazaar. Sardel mostly kept to himself
but this felt different. Zed had picked up the latest copy of the Chimera
and there where no entries from Sardel’s Journal. Strange, Zed
thought as he caught his foot on one of the blasted brambles that grew
throughout Felucca since Minax had fouled the land.
Perhaps Sardel was simply busy with a large order for scrolls, or perhaps
he was traveling… There was no point in guessing. Zed headed for
Sardel’s shoppe.
As Zed approached the shop he noted that there were no lights on inside.
He walked up to the door and pushed it open. Deserted.
“Sardel?” Zed called out.
Nothing...
“SARDEL?!”
Silence.
Zed touched his mana and opened his mind to the names of those close
by. Feeling a presence outside the shop Zed looked out the window. A
deer flicked his ears and trotted away from the building.
“Mondain’s ghost” Zed cursed. “No one leaves
a shop unlocked and unattended in Felucca.”
Zed walked out of the building and stopped on the front steps. Touching
his mana once more he cast a spell.
“An Por” Zed cast the spell and could hear the bolt turn
in the lock. Sardel will be able to break the spell easily enough and
perhaps if he returned he might sense that it was Zed’s magic
that locked the door. Zed did not think that Sardel was coming back.
Something felt wrong.
“Kal Ort Por”
Zed headed for Skara Brea. “Lady Sam will surely know something…”
