The Hunt Begins
By Sardel
From Sardel's
Journal
Nicodemus
drummed his fingers on the table top. He was not in a very good mood.
It was unlike Sgt. Gertok not to report back. "Get me Rydoc",
said Nicodemus.
"Sir?"
Nicodemus swiveled in his chair to face Kivan, his personal attendant.
"Is there something wrong with your ears lad? I want you to get
Rydoc in here, now".
"Yes sir, it's just that..."
"Just what?", said Nicodemus cutting off Kivan.
"Well sir it's just that Rydoc is a bounty hunter. He's not even
employed by the guard."
Nicodemus sighed softly to himself. He had forgotten how these young
officers tried to go by the book. "Look Kivan, perhaps our relationship
is not clear. When I ask you to do something you do it. When I want
your opinion, I will ask for it. If you can't understand that then I
will find someone who can. Is that clear?"
Kivan paled and responded. "Yes sir, I will find Rydoc at once".
With that Kivan quickly saluted and left the room.
Nicodemus chuckled to himself. The lad was good. He would have to make
it up to Kivan when he was not in such a foul mood.
It was not long before Kivan brought Rydoc into the room. Kivan was
asked to wait outside while Nicodemus spoke with the bounty hunter.
After a hour or so the bounty hunter quickly left Nicodemus' office.
Kivan almost felt sorry for his prey. Rydoc was known to be ruthless.
The feeling passed quickly as Kivan remembered what had happened to
Reebdoog.
