Journal
Sgt.
Gertok silently cursed mages. He cursed those who could whisk across
the realm in a manner of seconds while he was forced to travel for days
to reach the same location. It had not been a poor sea voyage but the
matter of Reebdoog's death hung heavy in his thoughts and he was unable
to enjoy the beauty of the sea.
The only suspect at this point was some scribe who lived in the woods
just outside of Skara Brae. Witnesses in Serpent's Hold had seen this
Sardel speaking with Reebdoog on the day of his murder. By all accounts
Sardel was the last person to see Reebdoog alive. Pearce, the tavernkeeper
of the Fisherman's Brew had mentioned that Sardel had come into the
tavern in a sullen mood, complaining about fate and fortune. Sardel
was reported to be muttering about good beer. Pearce being a responsive
server brought the man a beer but he claimed that he wanted wine.
Ordinarily Sgt. Gertok would not waste his time reflecting on such an
insignificant matters but this Sardel was the only suspect at the moment
and all his comings and goings were to be noted.
The ship soon moored at the docks of Skara Brae and Sgt. Gertok disembarked
eager to find Sardel and ask him a few questions.
