Council Meeting
From the Journal of Sardel

Saturday night...cake night. Sometimes it's pie night, and at other times cookie night. Lovely cookies...some time it's cake, pie, and cookie night! Well that's a typical saturday night in Skara Brae. It also happens to be a night when citizens gather to conduct town meetings. The food is provided by the Lady Stella Maris. Why I am sharing this, I don't know. Frankly when less people show up it means more cake for me. Last night was not a good night.

I have not seen the council chamber as crowded as it was last eve for a number of years. The guest list was quite impressive. There were representatives from KGB, RSB, OTW, PDM, and a few others I believe. I tried tracking down the names but it would take alot of space to list each individual name here. Unfortunately they ate alot of cake...more importantly though they brought tidings of dire news.

Apparently a Dark Alliance has been forged by the powers of evil. ORK, USO, and DRO...the Orcs, Undead, and Drow have sworn to fight together, apparently with the purpose of conquering Skara Brae. As a citizen I find this abit disturbing to say the least. I do hope that I heard incorrectly. There was also word of a large scale battle to take place in the coming week on the island of Nujel'M. It is the hope of the goodly folk that the light shall prevail over darkness.

In the meeting itself there was abit of a disagreement on how to proceed with this new information. Many were insistent on striking out with the first blow against the Dark Alliance, striking a victory for the side of light. Zed, an Elder of the Council of Nine hopes to proceed with peaceful negotiations. Apparently this has been tried before without much success in the past. It makes sense to me, one cannot expect any type of truce in good faith with creatures who have no honor.
At this point war seems to be inevitable. I believe there was a strike against the Dark Alliance after the meeting adjourned but I have not heard any reports as of yet. I pray that we remember that darkness only exists in the absence of light and if those who hold to truth and honor remain strong than victory shall be assured.
