Trail of Webs

From the Scrolls of The PRC
*Jennae
sat on the balcony of her cabin, staring without seeing into the forest
beyond. Her mind was struggling to think like a drow, and she was having
difficulty.*
"What would THEY do? Where would they put him? Or, if we had something
they wanted, where would they search? Where would they start?"
*She sat quietly and then suddenly her eyes focused and she leaped to
her feet. She had an idea!*
*Rushing down the stairs, she leaped onto the horse, Poison, that Maro
had given her recently, and sped toward Moonglow. There she found the
General as well as Reinhardt, Lilly, Zanthine, Longwalker, Hannibal
and Smith. She quickly explained her idea to them, and the group immediately
left for Skara Brae to see what Rangers were available, and found Tristam
and Bruin ready and able to go.*
"We must move VERY quickly, before they get word of what we are
up to. If they find out what we are doing, they will move him. We've
got to get in and get out of that house FAST!" Jennae explained,
rushing the group to move at a heightened pace. They made their preparations,
and then Minty cast the gate.*
*Arriving at the sandstone, magic and tracking skills were used to determine
if there were any of the dark elves about. One was found on the outer
patio. Shifty eyed and seeming extremely nervous, he exclaimed that
he was not able to speak for DRO. Tristam ordered one of his Rangers
to keep an eye on him, while the others searched the house for clues.*
*Suddenly, on the top floor, Jennae found what she had been looking
for. Among the various books, filled with writings that she could not
decipher, was a book of runes. Some of the locations she was familiar
with, others were foreign to her. Those runes were the ones they needed.
She showed Minty the book, and they chose four locations. Minty and
Zanthine left in tandem to mark two of the locations each, to keep the
time spent in the house to a minimum.*
*Minty and Zanthine returned to take the group to each location. Minty
was brushing something from her cheeks and it took Jennae a moment to
realize what it was.*
"Spider webs... Of course..." She shuddered inwardly. Spiders
were the one thing that she could not stand, and was, in fact, mildly
phobic of. When Minty cast the first gate, however, she hesitated only
a moment before charging through.*
*The group were met by a horde of creatures that they assumed must have
been left to guard the location. An intense battle followed, and while
some went to search the area and buildings, others fought off wave after
wave of the vile creations.*
*Sweat pouring from every
brow, they regrouped under the sign of one of the buildings they had
searched. Looking from person to person, heads nodded in silent affirmation
that this was certainly a meeting place one would find DRO and possibly
even USO and CTD. But there was no evidence inside of Zed's presence.*
*They moved on to the next location and again Jennae was forced to confront
her fears, as they were set upon by giant spiders guarding a delapitated
temple.*
*The group made short work of the eight legged monstrosities, did a quick search of the area, and moved on...*
*This location puzzled the group, because there were no obvious reasons for drow to like the area, other than the darkness and apparent safety from surfacers. When they came back out, Hannibal scouted the area, while the rest of the party removed the chill of the caves from their bones.*
